Weight Management


The Lifelong Metabolic Center program does have a jump-start portion to help you lose weight quickly, safely, and efficiently, but our main focus (hence our name), is really on helping you to keep the weight off for life. Any diet will work, but then what? You cannot sustain a healthy and happy life by following a diet plan. You need a moderate, fulfilling nutrition and exercise plan you can stick to comfortably long term.


You Lost Weight, Now What?

Each of our programs include a period of time to reach your weight loss goal (depending upon your BMI and desired goal weight) and then an additional time under care where you are maintaining your weight while still under the care of Dr. Borre. This is the most important part.

The DNA report will clearly outline the food/exercise plans for you to follow and Dr. Borre will meet with you monthly (either in-office or via FaceTime) to assure you feel comfortable following the plan outlined in the report.

Effectively Managing Your Weight Loss

Follow the DNA plan. It sounds simple, right? Your DNA is tested because it is a great way to find out exactly what your body does and does not need to function optimally each day. The two major sections of this report cover the amount of: Starches, grains, or legumes, fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat or meat substitutes, and healthy fats you need in a day and the range of exercise that is optimal for you.

You will receive a journal to guide you through the step by step process of implementing the fourth phase of this program-for life. There are pages to write your intended meal plan for the week (great for food prepping), the needed food quantity in each category, your exercise “score” for the week, and the lists of foods recommended to eat daily vs. sparingly.  Dr. Borre will walk you through both how to read the DNA report and how to utilize the journal.


Keeping Track of Your Progress

We recommend getting a scale that shows weight, body fat, and muscle mass. While the body composition analysis scale we use in the office is good, we want you to have a life-long option for tracking your body fat, muscle mass, and weight regularly. Dr. Borre can recommend a great, affordable scale (~$25) for home purchase.

Journaling is a great way to assure you are not “cheating” or cheating yourself accidentally. You can see what you plan to eat, what you ate, and compare that to the required cups/ounces/teaspoons of each food group. You will be provided your first journal during the lifelong phase and a digital copy to use any additional months you would like to print one at home.  Don’t fret, we know this sounds like a lot of information – Dr. Borre is here for you to guide every step of the way.


Ongoing Weight Management Tips

In our program designed for those with a BMI under 30, we will complete the jump-start portion of the program in 63 days. Daily texting in phases 1/2, weekly in phase 3 along with the visits (either in-office or via FaceTime) on days 21, 41, & 63.  The Phase Four-DNA portion of the plan will be 4 months. During those 4 months, you will counsel with Dr. Borre once per month to make any tweaks necessary. This plan is a total of 6 months.

In our program designed for those with a BMI over 30, we will complete the jump-start portion of the program in 4 months. This includes two rounds of each of phases 1-3. Daily texting in phases 1/2, weekly in phase 3 along with the visits (either in-office or via FaceTime) on days 21, 41, & 63. The Phase Four -DNA portion of the plan will be 8 months.  During those 8 months, you will counsel with Dr. Borre once per month to make any tweaks necessary. This plan is a total of 1 year.

We do offer a program for those looking to lose 10 lbs. or less or just those looking to maintain their healthy weight. This is the initial consultation and DNA testing along with a consultation, and two follow-up visits to assure you understand the program and can complete it on your own.

As you can see from our program outline, the bulk of our time together will be focused on healthy weight management at the end of your program. Although in our initial phases you lose weight quickly, efficiently, and safely (and it can get very exciting), the long-term goal is that you are able to achieve your goal weight and maintain it for life just using the DNA report-which is yours to keep. You don’t need a Dr., supplements, or anything additionally down the road. Even if the weight creeps up after a big event or several years after you have completed the program, you can always return to the DNA report and get yourself back on track to a healthy weight for life.
